Is self esteem viewed all over the world?

I'm bosnian but I live in Chicago. And I want to look forward for a better self esteem but wats holding me back when I look around the world and see how skinny ppl are, it makes me think that self-esteem in their country isn't being taught. I keep thinking that self esteem is only viewed in America. Do you think that other ppl around the world are using self-esteem even if they're overweight?
