Why were recent studies showing a surge in electricial activity in the brain before death misused?

some said -scientists in the study ,etc,that this was proof that NDE and out of body experiences weren't real.But scientifically this is conjecture and philosophically and logically also the study proved nothing either way.there are multiple possibilities and just because something is experienced by the mind-what else can it be experienced by?! doesn't mean that the experience is explained away.This is scientific reductionism .
