How do we Avoid Deployment?

Ok to clear that up: I fully intend to deploy. I'm a cook currently in the national guard, and I don't care to deploy with this infantry unit as infantry. I would only slow them down sense I'm under trained. I will be changing to an MOS to deploy as that (heli mechanic) so I can actually do something I enjoy, if I must go. but one of my fellow cooks doesn't want to go, period. I'm curious if anyone on here has any info on regulations or back door-type tactics to get him out of this. and to you who want to call he or I names, show me YOUR medals from you being overseas, and tell me about all the fun YOU had, before you question his or my motives. Yes, we get the benefits, we do our duty, but sending cooks to do infantry work is a death mission, not only for us, but for our friends as well, and I would prefer they have the best possible chances.
